Elton John shed light on a severe infection he has struggled with, and continues to endure, in a new health update shared to Instagram.

He’s experiencing “limited vision” in one eye as a result of an ongoing infection that will “take some time” to heal. John updated fans and followers on the condition, citing a slow healing process and quiet recuperation. The 77-year-old icon also drew attention to the team of nurses and doctor who’ve guided him along the road to recovery.

“I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye. I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.”

John closed-out his message with positivity regarding the progress he’s made so far, sending love and gratitude to fans.

According to Variety, he’s slated to appear at the Toronto International Film Festival later this week for the premiere of his upcoming documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, out September 6th, amid recovering from the infection.
