Those wildly outrageous and over exaggerated futuristic movies have started becoming reality. First step, drone delivery service!
Doordash have teamed up with Wing, a drone delivery service, to bring the people of Melbourne (starting with 26 suburbs in Melbourne’s east) an environmentally friendly and super efficient way of getting their tasty treats to their doorstep. You can get anything from your morning coffee to your cheeky latenight meal delivered straight to you by air. The drones can carry up to a kilo, and travel up to 7km at 110km per hour. Thats bloody fast! No traffic, no red lights, no pedestrian crossings – this could well be the fastest way to get your grub.
Wing spokesperson Jesse Sukin said he was excited to bring drone delivery to Melbourne, stating “We’re thrilled to kick off delivery in a new state and city, delivering to the eastern suburbs of Melbourne,”
“Our customers use drone delivery, for things like a loaf of bread to prepare school lunch, toiletries, or an afternoon treat like coffee or ice cream. We’ve been able to provide delivery that’s safe, fast, and environmentally friendly.”
The suburbs where the drone service is currently available include: Ringwood, Ringwood North, Mitcham, Nunawading, Donvale, Park Orchards, Warranwood, Croydon Hills, Croydon South, Bayswater, Wantirna, Heathmont, Vermont, and in parts of Vermont South, Forest Hill, Wonga Park, Kilsyth, Warrandyte South, Blackburn, Blackburn North, Doncaster East, Croydon North, Croydon, Bayswater North, Boronia and Wantirna South.
So, will you be giving this ago??
