Set to hit cinemas on July 20th 2023, the new Barbie movie has finally released a teaser trailer to keep us on our toes!
The live-action Barbie film stars Aussie icon Margot Robbie alongside Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell.
After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less-than-perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness.
The genius behind the film is Greta Gerwig best known for her work as director of Ladybird (2017) and Little Women (2019). Gerwig pays homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) in the teaser trailer for Barbie. Which tells us everything about this movie without giving any of the plot away.
We know when Barbie was introduced in 1959, little girls stopped playing with baby dolls and moved on to an adult doll with unattainable body features and perfect blonde hair. From what we gather from the trailer, this film will lean into the everlasting effects that Barbie has had on girls and women.
