Jimmy Barnes is “out of surgery and awake” after a successful surgery as confirmed by the singer’s daughter.
Elly May Barnes stated via the rock star’s Instagram on Tuesday, “Hey everyone, my dadda is out of surgery and awake. The doctors are very happy …Thanks for all the well wishes.”
This update was accompanied by two photos, the first depicting the legendary musician laying in bed post-surgery with a smile across his face along with an oxygen tube in his nose.
The second showing an x-ray of Barnes’ newly fixed hip.
This newest surgery comes after a few health struggles that has plagued Barnes. He explained to Sunrise earlier this month that this surgery came about after all his performing “finally caught up with me”. As a result, Barnes has decided to cancel his upcoming tour in order to focus on recovery.
The band Hoodoo Gurus will take Barnes’ place in his next few big performances. The band will headline in Wollongong, Torquay and Rochford Wines with the Barnes being “very grateful” the band agreed to help “in my absence”.
Barnes says he isn’t sure how long he will be out of the spotlight.
“Probably a minimum of four months but I’ll probably just take six months off,” the singer said.
The 66-year-old is recovering well in hospital with another update coming from an Instagram post earlier today.
“Your ongoing messages of encouragement have been uplifting, they got me on my feet today! Looks like I’m here for a while. The team are taking amazing care of me, but I hope I’ll be home for Christmas.”
